Gutenberg – The New WordPress Editor

Released earlier this year was WordPress Version 5.0 with a new look editor called Gutenberg.

Using the new editor is quite a different experience from using the existing editor. The new ‘drag and drop’ block functionality makes formatting your content easier. You can easily arrange your content into columns, tables, have full-width headers etc.

From Version 5.0 of WordPress, the new Gutenberg editor is now the default. You can install a plugin to deactivate it if necessary. Some themes will need modifying to take full advantage of the new editor.

You can try out the editor with the interactive page on WordPress.org.

Once you grasp the power of the new editor, you may realise the potential for custom blocks. You may consider having custom blocks developed for your company or industry. Improve your workflow with having custom blocks (that you can drag and drop into your web pages) for styling your products, testimonials, page-parts.

If you require Gutenberg training, theme amendments or custom block development contact Webtree to discuss the options.
