Gutenberg – The New WordPress Editor
Releasing soon is WordPress Version 5.0 with a new look editor. The title of the new editor is ‘Gutenberg’.
Using the new editor is quite a different experience from using the existing editor. The new ‘drag and drop’ block functionality makes formatting your content easier. You can easily arrange your content into columns, tables, have full-width headers etc.
You can opt into using the new editor from your WordPress dashboard. If you don’t like the new editor, you can disable it.
From the next major release (version 5) the new Gutenberg editor will be the default. You can install a plugin to deactivate it if necessary. Some themes will need modifying to take full advantage of the new editor.
You can try out the editor with the interactive page on WordPress.org.
Once you grasp the power of the new editor, you may realise the potential for custom blocks. You may consider having custom blocks developed for your company or industry.
If you require Gutenberg training, theme amendments or custom block development contact Webtree to discuss the options.
