This week I encountered a frustrating problem when making a restaurant reservation. I was unable to call the restaurant’s phone number from my phone.
Are you making it hard for your customers to contact you?
From the restaurant’s website, I clicked on their phone number – and nothing happened. The telephone number wasn’t clickable.
So I copied the number, switched to the telephone keypad on my phone, but the keypad looks like this (nowhere to paste it!).
So with my memory not being the best, I had to write the number down. If I hadn’t of been set on going to that particular restaurant and may have changed my mind and went somewhere else.
If you are viewing this article on a mobile device, the following numbers show the difference:
Non-clickable Telephone 0433 556 837
Clickable Telephone 0433 556 837
Some mobile devices may be smart enough to detect a telephone number and include a link. Often they don’t. Test the contact number on your website to ensure you’re not making it hard for your customers to contact you.
The change is a simple html anchor link behind the number. Refer these instructions.
